Say hello to the (soon to be on November 19) Mrs. Paul Hendrix!
That's correct. Read it again if need be... :)
I'm SO excited and SO blessed to get to spend the rest of my life with my fiancé, Paul!!
Tuesday night, May 24th 8:30(ish) Paul proposed right in the kitchen of his house.
SHOCKED was an understatment. I had absolutely NO idea!!
Want to hear the whole story...Oh come on, you know you do!! :)
Here's the deal:
So, the original plan was to wait until tonight because we are having a big get together of all our friends at my house. However, Tuesday, he decided spur of the moment he couldn't wait any longer. We were fixing to put in a movie and he said I need to go to the bathroom, do you? I said sure and went on. I noticed he followed me through to the kitchen, but I just thought he was going to jump out and scare me (he's been known to do that).
Well....I tiptoed out of the bathroom waiting for him to jump out. Then I walked back in the kitchen, looked at him, and said something like "What are doing?" He walked to me, grabbed my hand, and got down on one knee and said "I can't wait another minute to know if you'll marry me and be my wife. I love you so much!"
HOLD UP!
Let me insert that in my head I had always planned to say flat out "Oh my goodness, YES, I'll marry you!"
Would you believe the first words out of my mouth were..."Did you ask my daddy?!!" (haha) Paul said "YES!!", and then I of course said "YES, I'll marry you. Now get up!!" He placed my ring on my finger, and I can't quit staring at it...I think you can see why :)
It was the perfect proposal!!..
After hugging and rejoicing together, we shared the news with our families. EXCITEMENT was definitely an understatement. Paul's mama's reaction is still my favorite. She was sitting watching tv, reading a book, and not really paying us any attention when we walked in. I had my hand behind my back, and Paul called his daddy in the living room. We were kind of just standing there and Paul said, "Well I asked Ashley to marry me." Mrs. Becky threw the book in the air, threw her hands up, and started hollering. Haha, it was so priceless. :)
My family, as well as Paul's, are thrilled. We are so fortunate to have such good parents. Just another blessing in our sweet love story.
I seriously cannot tell you how thankful I am. I haven't quit smiling or staring at my ring. Paul is my best friend in the whole world, and I love him so very much. I pray that our life together glorifies our sweet Savior forever and ever.
I cannot praise Jesus enough.
Until next time.
Love God. Love people.
For those who don't know...
It's Police Appreciation week. I, for one, am thankful for all the men and women who serve in our towns and cities.
I guess you could say I'm EXTRA thankful because my sweet boyfriend, Paul is a police officer too.
He never wants recognition of any kind, trust me.
"Pray for the Men in Black"
It takes a very special person to wear the uniform.
Most people do not understand what we do
We made a commitment to protect and serve.
We work hard to provide the safety you deserve.
No normal shifts, not nine to five.
We work 24/7 to keep you alive.
Holidays and weekends don’t mean a thing.
We work night and day, just give us a ring.
Our loved ones and children pray every night.
That we will return at the break of daylight.
We carry guns and wear vests to help us get through.
You couldn’t imagine some of the things we must do.
We see accidents and blood and small children crying.
We also see death and it’s not just old people dying.
Abusive spouses and parents that don’t seem to care.
These are just a few of the things, to make you aware.
Drug dealers and drunks are a regular sight.
We go to the bars for fight after fight.
Responding to calls day after day.
Not allowing our personal lives to get in the way.
You complain all the time when you see us on a break.
We just drive around in cars and oh, the money we make.
Stop for a second and try to assess
Who’s always there to clean up the mess.
We do all we can to help and provide.
To make you feel safe and secure inside.
Please remember all of the things that we must do.
And next time you pray, include the men in black.
I'm pretty sure I've never prayed for anyone as much as I've prayed for Paul. I worry about him, but I know the Lord will take care of him.
I am so thankful for my very own police officer! He's my best friend and my HERO!
Thank a police officer this week!
Until next time.
Love God. Love people.
I graduated this past Friday night from Mississippi State University. It was such a GREAT moment in my life.
Yes, I only spent 4.5 seconds walking across that stage, but I walked with great pride.
Man, I'm so excited and so blessed!
Annnd, I already have a J-O-B! :)
Praise God!!
How fortunate am I that I get to do something that I love for the rest of my life.
These were my classmates minus a few. We had so much fun during school. It's going to feel so weird not going back in August to be with them!
What a wonderful 2 years at Mississippi State. It's a good feeling to say that I'm an official Bulldog Alumni! :)
On a different note... My heart is broken.
Specifically for the ones who lost their precious loved ones. Everything else in life can be replaced.
But nonetheless, for all the people who lost their homes, pictures, dishes, beds, cars, clothes, jewelry, computers, furniture, keepsakes, etc as EF5 tornadoes ripped through our beloved Mississippi, and our neighboring states.
My prayer is that God's glory and majesty will be magnified like never before. Lord, keep these precious people at the forefront of my heart and mind. When I start to complain about being tired or wanting something...Lord, remind me I have everything I need and more.
I've been making up my bed everyday, which I never do, because I just get to thinking about all those people who would love to make up their beds in the morning.
Count your blessings when you lay your head on your pillow tonight, and pray for those who've lost everything they've ever known.
*I'm watching the news as I type this. It's been confirmed that Osama bin Laden has been killed in an operation led by the United States. While I'm GLAD he's no longer a threat, and that justice has been served to all those men and women who have been fighting on foreign soil and to those who have lost their lives...my heart can't help but hope that he somehow found out and accepted the truth of Jesus Christ...* My Jesus died for everyone, including Osama.
Until next time.
Love God. Love people.
