Name them one by one...

Count your blessings...

1. My precious parents--seems as if the older I get the more I love & appreciate them. I work with kids everyday who go home to empty houses. And by empty I mean broken, torn, painful, just plain rough. My parents love me, support me discipline me, pray for me...you know like my Heavenly Father. I am so, so thankful. It's like my Beezie and Mamaw Margie tell me all the time, "You and Brit have the best parents." I'm in complete agreement.

2. My sister. You know there are 7 years between us, but you'd think there were less. She's growing up right before my very eyes. I feel like I'm her mother sometimes because I find myself worrying about her, especially driving and going out. For pete's sake, she's my baby sister...not my teenage, in a few months 16 (1/2) yr old sister. Come on now. :)

3. My ever so sweet boyfriend and best friend, Paul. I don't even know that I have words to describe how happy he makes me. I thank God for sending him into my life everyday. There is not a day that goes by that he doesn't tell me he loves me (@ least 10 times). But one of the things I love most is he doesn't have to say it (even though my heart bounces, everytime)...I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that he love me. On bad days, good days, so-so days, he's there. I never knew my heart was capable of loving someone this much in this way. A love only God could create.

4. My student teaching experience has done nothing but confirm God's will in my life. I know I'm called to teach, care for, and love students. In particular, those students with Special Needs. They can win my heart over in about 30 seconds, and in those same 30 seconds another day make me madder than an old wet hen. But it's been confirmed in my heart. I know, and there is so much peace in that. Trust me. I cannot wait to have my own classroom, with my very own students.

Count your blessings see what God has done...

5. I have been privaleged to know all of my grandparents. I have good parents because of these 4 precious people. My Papaw Moose passed away when I was in the 1st grade, but I'm ever so grateful for the years I got to spend with him. He was so funny, and I'd always ask him, "Are you the boss or is Mamaw the boss?" (of course I was in the middle of getting in trouble, haha) Miss that sweet man. Now, Mamaw Margie, she's a hilarious too, and well she's the woman who cooked a full course breakfast and watched Seasame Street with me a many of mornings. She's the one who knows just how to give the best compliments. Never will I ever forget our bubble baths and skin-so-soft. She still to this day gives some of the sweetest hugs and gives the best advice.

And, on to my other set. Papaw Lewis, some might think he's a very stern man...and he is at times. But I'll tell you what else
he is... the hardest working man I've ever known, a sports fanatic, and a softy when it comes to his grandchildren. And he loves my Mamaw. Mamaw Mabel, his wife of 54 (or so) years, I believe. And Mamaw, well she'd give you the shirt right off her back if you needed it. She runs our local food pantry, which is a huge responsibility. She helps cook for our family every Sunday and Wednesday night. She's the one who played doctor, playdough, and recorded every episode of Beverly Hillbillies just for me. Not to mention rock and sing the sweetest lullabyes.

7. Next on this list...Beezie, my 97 year old great-grandmother, is, without a doubt, the sweetest woman on the Earth! How many people can say they even know their great-grandmother? Much less for 22.5 years??! I promise I don't take this lady for granted. You know, she's losing her eye sight slowly, but would you believe me if I said she reads her Bible every single day on her magnifying machine. I'm ashamed to say I have perfectly good eye sight (with contacts) and I don't. She has never in all my life spoken a single cross word about anybody. She says things like, "Hey sug" and "That's what I say." She was married at the age of 16, and as she tells it, "I went from one cotton patch to the next." This sweet woman lived right in the midst of the Great Depression, and remembers when life was slower and people were concerned about their neighbor. If I can live to be a fraction of the woman she is... I'm treasuring every single second with her. I know she's a treasure, and I praise God for the time I've had thus far.

7. Friends, in general, really. I've been blessed with some of the best friends a girl could ever ask for. I truly believe they have shaped the person I am today. I'm thankful for my friends who hold me accountable, and who are there whenever I need anything really. Paul and I are so blessed to have so many of the same friends.

8. Paul's family :) They are absolutely wonderful. I was scared out of my mind before I met them for the first time; however, they welcomed me in from day one, and I'm still so amazed at the love they show for me. I love them so very much. They are truly answered prayers.

9. Debo, my Sunday School teacher. She makes sure us college kids don't fall off and away from coming to church. I feel like we probably have the most active college class around. We go and do, and go and do. I love it so much. She is wonderful.

10, 11, 12....

I really could go on forever. But, I've cried enough and been so humbled by the fact that God chose to bless me like He did. I'm so unworthy, but so thankful.

Have you counted your blessings today? Think you might just be surprised...

Until next time.
Love God. Love people.

Well I just love this post, little Ashley McGee.

Fyi, I didn't know that you had kn named Moose. That is what they call Ben. Hypothetically, if Ben and I ever tie the knot, your kids can call him "Uncle Moose" so that you can have another Moose in the fam.
